The Scholarships are given out annually by the Swiss Confederation to encourage scientific collaboration and international exchange between Switzerland and more than 180 other nations. The Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS), the organization that grants the scholarships, chooses the recipients.

Eligibility Criteria:
Applications may be chosen in part by the Swiss diplomatic representation or the appropriate national authorities. The Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS) then evaluates the applications that made the short list and makes the final determination.
