Eligibility Criteria of the Scholarship
- Language Requirement: English is one of the required languages.
- Global Eligibility: All nations in the world are eligible.
- Degree Requirements: Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree with honors (first class or upper second class) or its equivalent. If undergraduate exam results are unknown at the time of application, the Council may, therefore, provisionally offer a scholarship; however, this is only provided that the scholar has earned first class or upper second-class honors for their bachelor’s degree or its equivalent. Conversely, if an applicant does not have a bachelor’s degree with honors, they must, in that case, hold a master’s degree to qualify for the scholarship. Additionally, the Council makes the final decision on whether an applicant meets these specific standards. Ultimately, the Council will reach this decision after carefully considering all relevant factors, including the applicant’s entire academic history and any other supporting documentation they provide. Thus, applicants should ensure that they meet all requirements and submit their applications accordingly.
- Application History: Applicants must not have submitted two unsuccessful applications to the program in the past, including those involving strategic partners.
- Acceptance Requirement: Applicants must have been officially accepted by the relevant department or school and be a new student pursuing the degree for which they seek Council funding.
- Research Master’s Scholarship: Candidates for a research master’s scholarship must not hold or have held a Council Postgraduate Scholarship in the past. The only Council Postgraduate Scholarships that applicants for a PhD degree may hold or have held are those that allow them to earn a research master’s degree.
- Residency and Nationality: Applicants will be divided into two groups based on residency and nationality.
- Category I Requirements: Candidates for category I must fulfill BOTH of the following:
- They must be citizens of an EEA or Swiss member state.
- They must have lived in one of those countries regularly for three of the five years prior to October 1st.
